Down in New Zealand we’re at the edge of the world. That much isolation can do strange things to your thinking! But sometimes strange is good, and all that loneliness makes us eager to share! – and share we have; right from the early days when our mate Ernie split the atom to our imaginative film making, to our New World wine revolution and right down to our delicious succulent lamb!
Now we are ready to share again and this time with our kiwi take on the world’s finest profession – Brewing!
The New Zealand craft beer story is founded on the edge-of-the-world environment where clean air and bright sun combines with our very own hops to create distinctive tropical aromas and flavours. Hops with names like Riwaka, Motueka and Nelson Sauvin are sought after by brewers all over the world.
And this is where we get selfish! We keep the best ingredients for ourselves, mastering the art of crafting brews that put a unique Kiwi-hop spin on traditional styles of beer.
Letting you taste our brewing creations wasn’t going to be easy, but a few of us thought we could make it happen! So when five of New Zealand’s most unique, independent and award winning breweries got together (over a suitable glass of something amber) and discovered that they really quite liked each other, loved our beer, and loved to share - then we knew we could make it happen!
So here it is - the New Zealand Beer Collective - in all its glory. Independent, innovative and ready to share! From Three Boys Pils and Tuatara’s APA profiling the wow factor our unique hops have brought to the world, to Renaissance’s Stonecutter exhibiting the Americanisation of the kiwi beer scene, to Yeastie Boys’ Pot Kettle Black showcasing the later wave of kiwi homebrewer innovation, and 8 Wired’s barrel beer illustrating the diversification to unique and esoteric stuff.
